Pointed south!

We are pointed south and have made it as far as Beaver, Utah, approximately half way to Long Beach!

We packed and repacked the pickup and the motorcycles.  With the bikes loaded, we thought we better take a short ride to make sure that everything still works.  So a quick trip to the sporting good store for another dry bag and "yes", the electric coats work, GPS and CB's talk to each other, music plays and the kick stands are adjusted just right. This is good.

I went downstairs to load new music and Carl said "I would rather have maps than music".  So begrudgingly, I went to the Garmin website with the Zumo 660 in hand.  I bought Mexico and South America map and loaded them into the GPS, one on the hard drive and the other on an SD card. It went so smoothly, with only one quick call to Garmin, that I was feeling pretty smug.  Carl then says, " we need maps on both GPS' just in case".  Well, that should not be a problem, I just did it to the 660 so it should be a piece of cake on the 665.  No way can anything be that easy when it involves computers, hard drives, and memory cards and me.  About 10 hours later with 4 of them on the phone with 2 different techs from Garmin we have Mexico and South America maps loaded in the Zumo 665.  The machine would not recognize the maps.  I was doing stuff way above my pay grade with their help.  It is scary when they take over your computer remotely....  Garmin has great service, not so sure about the zumo 665's software, tho.  When it works it is wonderful!  The good news for me was, I spent the day on the computer and phone while Carl finished loading up the bikes and all the stuff in the truck!

Wednesday morning we got up to a couple inches of that miserable white stuff.  The roads from Sheridan to Rawlins were slick and snow packed.  The temperature hovered around 15 all day.  Is this the reason we are going south and bikes are loaded in the pickup?
Headed south!

The roads sucked!

Tomorrow will be all better.  The temperature in Long Beach today was 74, hope we do not have a heat stroke!
